The Wind Turbine Foundation for Zhanjiang Wailuo Offshore Wind Farm Project has been completed

On May 20th, the construction work for sinking of 36 large-diameter single piles of Zhanjiang Wailuo Offshore Wind Farm Project (Wailuo Project) has been completed.

Wailuo Project is China’s first offshore wind farm EPC project which is undertaken by GEDI, a subsidiary of Energy China. The project is located in the offshore area to the east of Xinliao Island and Wailuo, Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, with a total installed capacity of 198 MW and a total of 36 wind turbine units with single capacity of 5.5 MW. It is the first time that large-diameter single-pile wind turbine foundation scheme was adopted in Guangdong Province. A single pile has the maximum diameter of 7 meters and the maximum weight of 1000 tons.

Upon completion, the project will generate more than 500 million-kW on-grid electricity, and facilitate the reduction of fuel coal consumption by 170,000 tons, CO2 emissions by 350,000 tons and SO2 emissions by 80 tons.
