Energy China strives to boost renewable energy for a greener planet. The first two electricity-generation units of Wudongde Hydropower Station, the world's seventh-largest hydropower project, were officially put into use on June 29. The station will be equipped with 12 units of 850,000-kW turbines with a combined installed capacity of 10.2 million kilowatts upon completion.

China Gezhouba Group, a subsidiary of Energy China, has undertaken more than 75% of the construction of the project, including the main part of the dam and the left-bank underground power station. It is estimated that the amount of green electricity produced by Wudongde station will save 12.2 million tons of standard coal annually.
