To meet the local power demands, Tuzla Thermal Power Plant, the largest coal-fired thermal power plant with the longest history in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), is going to build a new ultra-supercritical cogeneration unit with a total installed capacity of 450 MW. On June 24, Elektroprivreda BiH signed a Notice to Proceed (NTP). As the general contractor, China Gezhouba Group and Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute, subsidiaries of Energy China, kicked off the construction of this project, which is the largest infrastructure investment in BiH.
Adopting the lignite-fired tower boiler technology, this new No. 7 Unit will become the first unit in BiH that equips the clean and efficient coal-fired power generation technology, as well as the most advanced thermal power generation project in BiH.
The project will be executed under the EU standard requirement during all steps of the process, including designing, procurement and commissioning. The project will meet the EU Best Available Technology (BAT) requirement and the latest EU emission standards.
This new unit will generate a stable power supply for local people after the completion. During the construction process, this project will also create over 10,000 job opportunities for local residents.
