CEEC Huizhou Daya Bay Energy Station Project Honored at 2024 Asian Power Awards

Huizhou Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone Comprehensive Energy Station project, surveyed and designed by CEEC subsidiary CPECC Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., was recognized with two awards at the 20th Asian Power Awards, held recently in Singapore.

The project clinched two honors: Flexible Gas Power Project of the Year-Gold and Gas Power Project of the Year-China. This marks the second year in a row that a gas power project by the Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., has taken home these prestigious awards.

The energy station project is situated in the Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone of Huizhou City, Guangdong Province. It is being invested by Guangdong Yuedian Daya Bay Comprehensive Energy Co., Ltd.

This phase of the project involves the installation of two 665-megawatt (H-class) gas-steam combined cycle cogeneration units, making it the first integrated comprehensive energy demonstration base in China that also harnesses hydrogen energy.

The project was fully completed and commenced operations in June 2024, with an annual electricity generation capacity of around 5 billion kilowatt-hours and a heating output of approximately 11.12 million gigajoules.

It has significantly bolstered Huizhou's power supply capabilities, meeting the heating demands in the western region of the Daya Bay Petrochemical Zone. Furthermore, it effectively absorbs combustible hydrogen-containing tail gases produced by neighboring major projects, enhancing energy utilization efficiency.

The project is also pioneering a new model for comprehensive energy supply in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Its impact on accelerating the achievement of carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals is highly significant.

The Asian Power Awards, presented by Asian Power Magazine, aims to honor excellent energy companies in the Asia-Pacific region that champion technological innovation, sustainable development, and social responsibility. These companies wield considerable influence in the global energy sector.
