A commencement ceremony for the substation of the Haden 2GW PV plant project in Saudi Arabia was held on October 24, local time.
The project was undertaken by CEEC under a general contract, and its commencement marks the official start of the project's comprehensive construction.
Qiao Xubin, General Manager of China Energy International Group Co., Ltd., a CEEC subsidiary, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
During the ceremony, Qiao highly commended the project team for their hard work and early achievements.
Calling the project a significant milestone for CEEC in the Saudi market, he said, it showcases the company's commitment to green development and global energy transition.
Qiao encouraged the team to keep up their high spirits and diligent work ethic, and score more achievements by building on the experience and resources gained from the Al Shuaibah PV plant project in Saudi Arabia to complete the Haden project with high efficiency.
The Saudi Haden 2GW PV project is located in the Haden area of Taif City, Mecca Province, Saudi Arabia. It is a joint effort by China Energy International Group Co., Ltd., CEEC Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd., and CPECC Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.
This project, following the successful completion of the Al Shuaibah 2.6GW and Rabigh 300MW PV projects in Saudi Arabia, is another large-scale PV project undertaken by CEEC in Saudi Arabia.
Once completed, it is expected to generate a total of approximately 156.189 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity over 25 years and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 147 million tons. It will play a crucial role in accelerating the transformation and upgrade of Saudi Arabia's energy structure.
The ceremony was also joined by Xin Zongyi, Vice President of China Energy International Group Co., Ltd., Bai Xuehan, General Manager of CEEC Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd., and Wang Jinjun, Deputy General Manager of CPECC Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., along with other personnel from the relevant entities.
