On November 24, the overhead crane installation in the turbine hall of Unit 1 at the Singapore IWMF Waste-to-Energy Plant 2*65 MW project, undertaken by China Energy Engineering Shanxi Electric Power Construction Third Company, was successfully completed.
The installed crane is a double-girder crane, 21.4 meters long, with a maximum single component weight of 16 tons. Since the turbine hall structure had already been sealed, the lifting operation could only be conducted through a reserved opening of 6.5 meters by 3.5 meters at the top of the turbine hall, making it an unconventional lifting method. The concurrent steel beam installation by other units on the 33-meter level further increased the difficulty and risk of the operation.
To ensure the successful completion of the task, the project team conducted multiple measurements, continuously optimized the lifting plan, and meticulously organized the preparations. During the operation, all departments coordinated efficiently, followed the predefined plan strictly, and executed the work seamlessly. Ultimately, the lifting operation was completed successfully in 4 hours.
The successful completion of this lift not only resolved the challenges of crane installation inside the turbine hall but also created favorable conditions for subsequent equipment installations, marking a significant step forward in the project’s construction progress.
