A QC Circle of the Icing and Hydro-meteorology Department from the CPECC Southwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., a CEEC subsidiary, clinched the gold award with a perfect score at the 49th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) recently.
The team went head-to-head with other competitors from over 10 countries and regions worldwide, and won this honor. They wowed the international judges during the event with a multi-faceted presentation incorporating videos, models, and more.
The ICQCC, renowned as the "Quality Olympics", is an international conference in the field of quality management, drawing a large and diverse international crowd with its wide industry coverage and a strong sense of unity.
ICQCC has successfully been held 48 times since it commenced in 1976. The 49th ICQCC, with the theme of “Beyond Boundaries: A Quest for Quality, Productivity & Innovation”, took place in Colombo, Sri Lanka from November 11 to 14, 2024.
The QC Circle from the Icing and Hydro-meteorology Department is made up of frontline employees. They have been focusing on hydro-meteorological aspects of power engineering for a long time and have received national and provincial-level honors for their achievements.
With the theme of "developing an automatic ice cover observation device," the QC Circe is actively involved in innovative group activities. The ice cover automatic observation device they developed can operate continuously and stably for 15 days in ice-prone environments, with an absolute error in ice thickness measurement kept within 5 millimeters.
The team has come up with a fresh approach to ice cover observation, which outperforms traditional manual methods in terms of safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness, stability, applicability, and convenience. This new method provides crucial and accurate ice cover observation data for ice zone delineation and the research of ice cover prediction and warning technology, making a significant impact in practical applications.
