Song Hailiang Meets with Egyptian President

CEEC Chairman Song Hailiang paid a visit to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Beijing on May 31. Sisi, who was in China on a state visit, attended the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

Song and Sisi had exchanges on enhancing practical cooperation in various fields and expediting the implementation of joint projects.

They reached understanding on strengthening industrial investment and technological cooperation by establishing a taskforce, and deepening collaboration in investment and construction in Egypt’s energy and power, green hydrogen industry, power interconnection, green transportation, green computing, water resources and hydropower, and infrastructure development.

Commending the significant contributions of CEEC to Egypt's energy, power, and infrastructure sectors, Sisi emphasized that Egypt is currently making great strides in the development of clean energy, including green hydrogen, and actively working towards establishing itself as a regional hub for green energy.

CEEC, as a globally leading multinational mega-group in the energy, power, and infrastructure sectors, brings with it extensive project construction experience and strong technical capabilities, making it a trusted partner for Egypt, he noted.

As both sides share a common vision and vast opportunities for cooperation in the fields of new energy development and infrastructure construction, Sisi expected that CEEC will further expand its investments in Egypt's industries, focusing on areas such as new energy, green hydrogen, new types of energy storage, desalination, and logistics parks, and strengthen industrial investments and technological cooperation to support Egypt's manufacturing industry and industrialization process.

He also hoped the company will build more exemplary projects that benefit not only Egypt but also the world, to achieve mutual benefit and shared development. The Egyptian government stands ready to provide strong support for CEEC's investment and project implementation in Egypt, Sisi added.

Song expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian government for the care and support it has shown to CEEC.

He said that CEEC is an innovation-driven enterprise focusing on technology, energy, infrastructure and integrated development. Adhering to the core development concept of innovation, greenness, digital intelligence and integration, the company is accelerating its four major transformations towards innovation-driven, green and low-carbon, digital, as well as shared and integrated development and building platforms for new energy, new infrastructure, new industry and new materials in a systematic manner.

The company is committed to pursuing managing internationalization, personnel localization, and resource allocation globalization. As a result, CEEC has established a 12-comprehensive business system that covers six sectors, including power, cities, transportation, water, ecological conservation, and digitalization, Song said.

Noting that CEEC stands ready to fully utilize its integrated and systematic advantages, he said that the company actively seeks to promote localized investment in the industry and foster technological collaboration across academia, research, and industry by leveraging the resources of platforms such as the New Energy International Investment Alliance and the China Energy Storage Industry Innovation Alliance to provide a "one-stop" whole-industry-chain service for the development of Egypt's power transmission channels, integrated green hydrogen and ammonia production, power research centers, green computing, energy and transportation integration, new energy storage, new materials, carbon capture and storage/utilization, water resources and hydropower, and desalination.

CEEC is dedicated to offering more solutions to support Egypt's green and low-carbon transformation and facilitate the country’s economic and social development, Song said, hoping that a joint taskforce will be established between the two sides to advance the implementation of key projects.

The meeting was also joined by Egyptian Ambassador to China Assem Hanafi as well as heads of relevant departments from both sides.
