A delegation led by Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov visited the Oz 150 MW/300 MWh energy storage project in Fergana on December 26, local time. They inspected the project progress on-site and visited the frontline workers.
The project, invested in and built by CEEC’s subsidiary China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., is the largest single electrochemical energy storage power station of a Chinese company overseas.
Aripov toured the energy storage area and control building, gaining a thorough understanding of the operations in the central control room, 35 kV high-voltage switchgear room, and relay protection room.
He listened to work reports from the Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy, the project company, and equipment suppliers. Calling the Oz energy storage project a significant energy project in Uzbekistan, the prime minister said that it has garnered the attention from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy and related departments will continue to provide support and services to help the project achieve its goals smoothly, he noted.
He encouraged Chinese enterprises to further invest and develop in Uzbekistan's new energy and energy storage market, contributing more to Uzbekistan's energy transition and socio-economic development.
The Oz energy storage project, situated in the Fergana Region of Uzbekistan, boasts a total investment of around 140 million US dollars. It is also the first overseas energy storage investment project of CEEC.
Throughout the construction phase, the project is set to generate over 300 job opportunities. Once operational, it will offer the Uzbekistan grid an annual power regulation capacity of 2 billion kilowatt-hours, significantly bolstering the stability and security of the local power energy system.
