CEEC China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd. (CGGC) signed two contracts for the T-1253 and T-1402 infrastructure projects of the South Saad Al-Abdullah New City with Kuwait's Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) on March 3 local time, with a total contract value of $557 million (approximately 4.066 billion yuan).
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei, Hu Hanming, the commercial counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, Kuwait's Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Hamad Al-Meshari, Acting Director of the PAHW Rashid Al-Enezi,, and CGGC Chairman Liu Huailiang.
At the signing ceremony, Meshari praised CEEC's excellent performance in the No. 1 section project of the South Saad Al-Abdullah New City. He stated that CGGC is a leading enterprise in Kuwait's infrastructure sector and a trustworthy partner.
Noting that the two newly signed projects are among Kuwait's most important urban development projects, he expressed hope that CEEC would continue to demonstrate Chinese capabilities in Kuwait's construction through outstanding project execution.
Zhang said that China and Kuwait share a long-standing friendship, with fruitful cooperation across various fields in recent years. He hoped that Kuwait would continue to encourage and support more Chinese enterprises to participate in the country's construction projects.
Liu stated that this contract signing for the South Saad Al-Abdullah New City with Kuwait's PAHW represents a concrete step in deepening China-Kuwait economic and trade cooperation and supporting Kuwait's "Vision 2035."
The two newly signed projects are follow-up sections to CGGC's ongoing projects for the South Saad Al-Abdullah New City, covering a total area of approximately 25 square kilometers.
The scope of work primarily involves site leveling earthwork, blocks and roads, various pipeline networks, substations, irrigation reservoirs, and pump stations. The projects are expected to officially commence within three months after signing, with preliminary preparations currently in full swing.
The South Saad Al-Abdullah New City is a key livelihood project deployed by the Kuwaiti government under its "Vision 2035" development plan.
The project covers a total area of approximately 64 square kilometers and includes plans for about 23,000 housing units with corresponding supporting facilities, which will accommodate at least 150,000 residents upon completion.
Since beginning construction a year ago, CGGC's No. 1 section project T-1303 (C-1522) has significantly outpaced the owner's CPM schedule, earning high praise from the owner and all parties involved. Additionally, the experience and resources accumulated during the company's many years of operation in Kuwait have provided solid support for successfully signing contracts for subsequent sections of the South Saad Al-Abdullah New City.
