On June 1, Section 5 of the Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan new highway project in Mongolia, constructed by China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd. (CGGC) under China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China), officially received the acceptance certificate issued by the employer.

The project is a key infrastructure initiative prioritized by the government of Mongolia. Linking Ulaanbaatar, the capital of the country, with Darkhan, its third-largest city, it plays a vital role in boosting regional connectivity and driving economic and social development along the route. The project was funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Section 5, undertaken by CGGC, spans a total length of 28.84 kilometers. Its main scope of works included the construction of a new one-way, two-lane asphalt concrete highway, along with supporting ancillary facilities such as subgrade, pavement, culverts, at-grade intersections, bus stops, and traffic signs and markings.
During the project construction period, confronted with multiple challenges including the impact of the pandemic, extreme cold on the Mongolian Plateau, and concurrent construction and operation, the project team, with the care and support of the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, the government of Mongolia, the employer, and the supervisor, organized its work scientifically and overcame various difficulties. All construction tasks were completed with high quality and efficiency in October 2025, and the project successfully passed the acceptance inspection.
