On July 14 local time, Unit 2 of the 46 MW Biovea Biomass Power Plant Project in Côte d'Ivoire, contracted on an EPC turnkey basis by the CECG-CEEC consortium, successfully completed its endurance test and performance verification and was officially put into operation.

TheProject, located in the Aboisso Province, approximately 100 kilometers east of Abidjan, has a total installed capacity of 46 MW. It is the largest biomass powerplantcurrently under construction in West Africa and the world’s first utility-scale biomass plant that primarily uses palm leaf stalks as fuel.

Once fully operational, thePlant will generate 348 million kWh of electricity annually, accounting for 15% of Côte d'Ivoire’s total renewable energy generation, and will stably meet the daily electricity needs of 1.7 million residents.TheProject will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 180,000 tonseachyear, which is equivalent to theeffectof planting approximately 10 million trees,making a significant contribution to mitigating global climate change and improving local air quality. During peak construction periods, thePlant hasprovided over 1,000 local jobs, and it will continue to help raise residents’ income.
